And it's not as if they don't make any money from licensing the old seasons to the other providers - or make any money when the other providers license their old seasons to them and allow them to get more subscribers. The result would be that a customer could get all content by subscribing to only one service and no piracy, but only if they're willing to be a year out of date for most of it, which still allows them to get multiple subscriptions from the subset of people with more disposable income. And the customer might actually be willing to drop Netflix for Disney this year if they both have the same back catalog, when it wouldn't be worth it if you have to subscribe to both at once for that. Then when season one drops on Netflix and Netflix subscribers like it, well, season two is out but only on Disney for the next year. Which means what they should be doing is reserving the latest season to themselves but making it so that everything else is available everywhere (assuming reciprocity). In the end the middle man is getting cut out.The thing they don't seem to understand is that you don't get long-term subscribers from the back catalog. With the explosion of P2P, myspace, facebook, and Itunes popularity fans can focus more directly and individually on the artists and products they want to support. The times are changing and the internet is leveling the playing field, and the bloated cancerous production company fat-cats are feeling the reallocation of wealth the hardest. They also have a knack for preserving old shows that left sindication but whose studio never got around to releasing DvDs of. South Park's Superfriends Episode(starring uncensored Muhammed)or The unaltered Star wars(Han shot first)or ET(real guns not walkie talkies). Pirates preserve media in the classic format before studios can edit them,I.E. Once something is on the internet, it exists for ever, for better or worse. Subpar products die and get no following pirate or otherwise. Good products and franchises will sell regardless of piracy and actually increase box office revenue with leaked footage when the product can stand on it's own merit. Think very carefully about who you want your money going to. When you spend money on a digital product or hard copy of said product, less than 1% of the money goes to the talent, the rest goes to publishers and manufacturer's and retailers. Should we feel bad about advertisers who lose money because they refuse to adapt? No. Should people pay for exclusive showing or broadcasts or theatre experience? Yes. Quantity and availability is up, quality is down. Piracy was bad until digital formats overinflated the profit margin of media. ANd to be honest, if a show paying actors 400,000 an episode gets cancelled due to lack of funds, i think they need to look at the root of the problem, which is, paying people too much. True fans still pay for services, just like with music, true fans still buy the CDs and merchandise. So either way, they get no money from me. If I wasn't able to download them, I wouldn't watch it, simple as that. rantIf a show is good it will make money regardless of people downloading it. this is why good shows like Chuck get canceled. They need you to watch them through a paid service, either on television or through a payment on the internet, so that they can earn money and keep producing the shows that you're watching it. I really dislike people who torrent tv shows and recently released movies. She was talking about the new Game of Thrones series that I've been keeping up with too, and that I enjoy and support. AMAZING cast! If you wanna start watching, here is the site where you can torrent: (I suggest looking for the 550mb files!)" "This has got to be one of the coolest television series I've ever watched. One of my friends on facebook put this as their status: This is just a little rant, you don't have to read it and this is just my opinion.
